CONSTIYUTIONAL ASSEMBLY IN “BUS SHAITYA”

SUBASH AGAMAN

Ukali Hos Ya Orali Hos
Bataima Sasurali Hos
Gori Hos Ya Kali Hos
Sasuralima Euta Sali Hos
(These literary lines are in Nepali language)

These beautiful lines are taken from a truck numbered Na 2 Kha 7264. These heart-touching lines are just the tip of the iceberg, there are countless four-liners written on the walls, the doors of the vehicles. Some satiric, some undergone ones and some painful, such ghazals are a common sight. Literature is a mirror that reflects contemplations, thinking of anyone like some of these that represent love, affection, jilt, experience and many other human feelings of not only the bus staffs but also the onlookers. These are undoubtedly realistic, unimaginable and progressive.

Bus literature is the continuation of tradition, exercise of social awakening and noble revolt of the social change. This revolt began in mid 2061 which have made a significant presence for discussion among its lovers in mere two years. The literature has received both support and criticism. Some even questioned, why only bus, how about truck, jeep and car. Basically, whatever the mean be, the objective is just one. The bus being the most approachable mean for people of all brackets unlike taxi, cars and jeep which are used by professionals and trucks only by transporters. So, bus literature represents all vehicles.

When the world has stepped in the 21st century, this new millennium’s literature, race, sex, religion needs to be free from discrimination. Bus literature has impressed us already and if used in the right way and effectively could be a strong way to aware people for social change. Its use, importance and effect need to be discussed and the time is apposite now.

At the moment when the Constutional Assembly discussions are becoming the headlines, political awareness is a must and bus literature, no doubt, could be a foundation stone. The vehicles en route from East to west could bring a wave of change through dissemination for all the same time. The brevity, sweetness and reality in pictures, cartoons and ghazals in every wall of the bus and vehicles, however, should be kept untouched from the pessimistic sight of the politicians. These could make the parties transparent, responsible and even dignified if written on humanitarian and good governance. And guess what the wave has started drifting.

I like it and hoping real lines for Constitutional assembly should be written on the bus. So , it will reach much more people.
THanks.
